ESPRESSO ITALIAN S COOKIES
The ingredient quantities below complete the approximately 4-cup-flour batch.
Ingredients
• 4 cups all-purpose flour, plus a little for shaping
• 1 tablespoon baking powder
• 4 large eggs, plus 1 extra egg for the egg wash
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• ½ cup vegetable oil
• Finely grated zest of 1 orange or lemon
• 2 tablespoons instant espresso powder
• 1 tablespoon hot water
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional
Optional Espresso Glaze
• 1 cup powdered sugar
• 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
• 1–2 tablespoons milk, as needed
Let’s bake!
-
Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
-
Dissolve the 2 tablespoons of espresso powder in the hot water. Let cool briefly.
-
In a bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.
-
In a separate large bowl, beat the 4 eggs, sugar, oil, zest, cooled espresso, and vanilla until combined.
-
Gradually mix in the flour mixture just until a soft dough forms. Avoid overmixing. If sticky, let it rest for 10–15 minutes before shaping.
-
On a lightly floured surface, gently bring the dough together. Take approximately 2 tablespoons at a time, roll into a 4–5-inch rope, and curve into an S.
-
Arrange about 1 inch apart on the prepared sheets. Flatten slightly, then brush lightly with the beaten extra egg.
-
Bake for approximately 15–20 minutes, checking from 13 minutes. The cookies should feel set and be lightly golden underneath; the espresso makes the dough naturally darker.
-
Cool completely. For the glaze, dissolve the espresso powder in 1 tablespoon of milk, then whisk in the powdered sugar. Add more milk a little at a time until suitable for drizzling.
-
Drizzle, let the glaze set, and store in an airtight container.
Serve with your favorite coffee—and someone whose company you love.

Glass Ornaments (Bulbs)
- Storage: Store ornaments in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, humidity, and temperature fluctuations, which can cause delicate glass to weaken over time.
- Packaging: We recommend rigid storage boxes lined with soft padding (such as tissue paper or cotton batting) to protect against accidental damage. Avoid plastic bags, as they can trap moisture.
- Handling: Each ornament is made from hand-blown glass and meticulously painted by hand. Handle with care and avoid dropping or knocking them against hard surfaces. These ornaments are fragile and not intended as toys.
- Hanging Tips: Secure ornaments firmly on branches or decorative displays to minimize movement and prevent accidental falls.
Garland
Designed to be a dazzling showpiece, our glass garlands are meant to be displayed prominently—not tucked between branches. Their intricate craftsmanship makes them heavier than standard garlands, so they require extra care during use and storage.
- Weight Consideration: Due to their craftsmanship, glass garlands are heavier than standard holiday garlands. When hanging, ensure they are secured on sturdy branches or hooks to prevent strain or breakage.
- Storage: Keep garlands in a cool, dry place, ensuring they are not exposed to direct sunlight or extreme temperature shifts.
- Packaging: Store garlands in rigid boxes, gently coiling them and using padding between loops to prevent pressure points that could cause breakage. Soft cloth or foam layers work best to cushion each section.
- Handling: Like our ornaments, garlands are made of delicate hand-blown glass. Handle carefully to avoid twisting or placing stress on individual pieces.
